Thanks Kelly for creating this group, and here is the first blog post

With processing power equivalent to an Intel 3.2 Ghz processor, this graphics card is probably the fastest on the planet.
ATI are using two GPUs on a single board, with some phenomenal increase in graphics performance.
Although this card is much faster than the Nvidia 8800 ultra, but the gaming performance still lacks behind. This may be due to the games specifically made for Nvidia cards.
After the launch of the PS3,the PC gaming is apparently catching up for the first time. The cell processor in the PS3 runs at 1 teraflops, and same is the speed of this card.
Even the best PC with latest hardware cannot beat the gaming and graphics performance of the PS3.The main reason may be the multi tasking capability of a PS3 cell processor.A PC Processor has currently a maximum of 4 cores in the intel quad core or AMD phenome processors, but a PS3 cell processor got 8 cores.
Can a PC match this processing power? Probably yes.
This ATI HD3870 has two graphics cores. If we use a pair of these cards in Crossfire mode(equivilant to Nvidia SLI),we get 4 graphics cores working simultaneously, and if we are using a Quad core CPU,then we are at the same level as a PS3.In the latest ATI CrossfireX,we can use 4 graphics cards simultaneously. If this card is used in full CrossfireX mode,we may get 8 graphics processors working in Parallel. But there is a problem. The games writen for PS3 are designed to used it's each and every resource. All the 8 processor cores are used simultaneously, and take care of different graphics tasks.
In case of PC gaming, there are not many games written for using all 4 cores of a PC processor simultaneously, and i think there are none that can use Quad GPU if this HD3870 X2 is paired. Most PC games use only one processor core at a time, therefore a single fast processor may be better than a multi core one,in terms of gaming performance, due to software limitations.
The PC gaming has something else in store. Its caaled a PPU,or Physx processing unit.It is not too expensive, and costs around 90 pounds. This piece of hardware takes care of all the realism in a game. The fluid effects, smoke and dust particle movements. The trees swaying, and blasts.Still not very famous among gamers, don't know why.The realism performance of this simple looking card is 100 times better than a PC Processor.
Eventually PC will beat console gaming, with it's enormous resources, and continuous innovations.
The PC may never catch up with console gaming in terms of ease of use, cost effectiveness and stability.Consoles rarely crash, but PC regularly faces hardware or software errors.
But then a PS3 costs around 350 pounds. To use this card at it's best, the resulting PC will cost around 1500 pounds.
So better stick to the PS3 at the moment.
